The entire WoW blawgosphere is going fucking insane right now. Crankyhealer decided to lay down her pen, ?because commenters and some other blogger chick named Anna were being dickwads about it? or something like that. Naturally this incident isn't the cause ; shit like this takes some time to build up. I am guessing she had alota  people bashing on her writings for some time. I wouldn't know, because I have never had the pleasure of reading her blog ( she deleted everything except one post and the goodbye post). Following this many bloggers wrote their thoughts about it. Gevlon pulls out his infamous apes and writes something that translates to ''words can not and should not hurt ''  ; The Gnomey is a tad hysterical, but as always shares her renowned Gnomish wisdom with us - Gevlon ''predicts'' Tobold  as Legion's next victim. Ah well, it will atleast provide people with material to blog about

Gnomelover Eversor writes as a response to Gevlon: ''Words can make us happy just as well as they can make us sad. Your wife tells you she is leaving you. Those are just words, therefore you shouldn't be hurt. Your father tells you he's proud of you. Just words, shouldn't mean a thing. Words convey feelings, emotions, thoughts. It is precisely the fact that we are thinking, intelligent beings that gives words the power that they have.''

Sorry big guy, I d-d-d-disagree. Your wife telling you that she's leaving you or your pops showing you his love isn't the same as a stranger scrub posting on your blog saying ''lolumad brah'' . Surely everyone has their own reasons for blogging, some get offended some not. Posts like that will never offend me as I write for my own pleasure, to document some of the things I do and the majority of the time to not lose my sanity.

If I wrote for other reasons, say money, acceptance or epeen it would hurt me I guess. That's why I take this oppurtunity and write for my 2-3 visitors a day that you shouldn't write for other folks, write for yourself. You're the motherfucking rockstar in this bitch, you have the mainrole in this movie. Stop trying to please strangers and people you truly don't give a shit about.

Being offended is so easy nowadays, everybody is using their ''right'' to be offended. Shit like this actually devalues the offense felt for real shit like racism, rape, murder, genocide. Raidleader telling you to shut the fuck up because you disapprove of his certain strategies in public (guild)  which is followed by a week of sitting out; not receiving any heals because you stole the healers brothers raidspot. Folks that get offended immediately jump on the vendetta train and look for ways to fuck the ''offender'' up badly.

Last week I've received my first hate comment on the blog, the first real comment besides the many viagra and penis enlargement robot comments. I deleted the comment, because what he wrote simply was not constructive to the post even though it was true. He told me something along the lines of '' NOOB! Why do you farm when you can play the AH and make much much more gold ''. Surely what he said was about right, but that's not the project. I'm documenting ways to earn gold without the need to camp the AH.

We as humans simply can not afford to be offended. It blocks progression. Instead of being offended by it simply ask yourself how true the comments are. If it's not true, disregard it, forget it, don't get affected by it.
Is it true? Go about fixing the problem, we're all human , Mistakes''R''Us™. If you look in the mirror and see yourself as a fat, unhappy bastard; instead of self-loathing and feeling miserable;  feel determination and fix the motherfucking problem and get healthy.

  1. I think I've gotten some nasty comments, but they haven't been too bad. There was one guy who tried to attack a few posts in a row, but he gave up, and I probably fed him more then I should have. I think I have only ever deleted one, but more because it complained about someone else and it wasn't relevant at all. I do get called out as being wrong.. but I think I have corrected what I could and kept their comment - noting the correction

  2. Aye, if it's nasty but relevant I'd have published it. You did the right thing at deleting the comment bashers comment. I've seen some posts derail so badly on some blogs it went from '' I disagree with above '' to '' insert racist/sexist/yo momma here and the good informative comments get lost in the crossfire.
